Education - Change Begins With Us

I look on our education system with distrust.  It appears to me that there is an element of hypocrisy in the whole system.  On the one side, we try to teach our children to be better than the present generation, and on the other side, we refuse to change our selves.  I remember making this exact comment at a state teacher's college back in 1984.  I also remember what one of the leading professors told me in reply, "Well, we have to start somewhere."  But, can change be had by transferring the process to someone else?  In my life it has never worked.  Yet, that is the way most of us would like to have it.  How many times have we heard someone say, "If he would only do this or that, I wouldn't have to live this way."
